Lieutenancy visit to the De Haviland Museum

Category : Events

on 21st September, the Lieutenancy visited the De Haviland Museum in Shenley. They were well received by the very helpful and knowledgeable volunteers. The visit included a guided tour of the very interesting and historical exhibits on display.

The de Havilland Aircraft Museum, established in 1959, was Britain’s first aviation centre. Its 20 aircraft include the iconic Mosquito and Comet, the world’s first commercial jet airliner.

As well as artifacts and materials to handle, there are equipment demonstrations and rare film clips and newsreels.

All aspects of operations are provided by volunteers who recently received The Queen’s Voluntary Service medal. Named as one of the ‘best small museums’ by The Sunday Times, it has just secured the Travellers’ Choice Award for 2023
