Unveiling of the Friends Of Cedars Park Sign

Category : Events

On 15th April 2026, Karen Trew DL had the pleasure of visiting Cedars Park and to unveil the Friends Of Cedars Park Sign and to meet many of the regular groups and volunteers who support this beautiful and historic park

The renovated Friends Of Cedars Park sign that has been carefully restored by Ben Davies. Ben is the son of the original local signwriter who designed and painted it about 40 years before, the late Michael John Davies. There were a wonderful crowd who joined for this unveiling and also had their photos before the sign was hung back on its post.

Karen visited the Men’s Shed and chatted with several of the Shedders. They are supported with their mental health through this group and enjoy doing woodwork, making items such as bird boxes and benches that raise money for the park. The Shedders also made the stand for the restored sign at its unveiling! Karen also met two groups on their Wednesday wellbeing walks through the park, a mental health walking group and a walking group for mums;  and also spent time with Kelly from #TheJamesFoundation (babyloss awareness) who is raising money for a memory tree to be planted near the “talking bench”.

Karen also visited the Sanctuary and had a little tour around of our Hedgehog Rehabilitation Project and our Bee Educational Centre. She also visited Michelle’s Pop Up Shop in the park that sells items made in the park such as honey, beeswax candles and smaller woodwork items.

It was a wonderful morning in the park and great to be able to meet and thank several people who generously donate or give their time to The Friends of Cedars Park. A particular thanks also goes to Andy Massey, the Chair of the Friends of Cedars Park, whose dedication and passion ensures that this park is calm, supportive and beautiful place that is enjoyed by the whole community.
