Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen
On Sunday 7th May 2023, a service of Thanksgiving was held at St Albans Cathedral to celebrate the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen. His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and the Dean and Chapter of St Albans Cathedral invited residents of Hertfordshire to the service which featured some of the King and Queen’s favourite hymns and music that has been enjoyed at previous coronations.
Young people from all of the Uniformed Youth Groups comprising the Sea, Army, RAF, Police, Fire and St John Cadets along with the Guide and Scout organisations in the county were represented in the procession. They all proudly carried their banners as they walked to the front of the Nave at the beginning of the service. Prayers were also read by young people from the RAF, the Brownies and one of the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets.
