Hertfordshire Girl Guide Camp

Category : Events

On Sunday 29th July, Shelagh Nichols DL together with other interested parties, had  a wonderful visit to Lees Wood, for the Hertfordshire Guide Centre Open Day.   During the week about one thousand Guides, Brownies and Rainbows take part in a vast range of activities.   During my visit I was taken to see hundreds of tents that been erected for the week, alas it was on a day that it rained, so we sheltered in the pavilion tent and saw the activities that had been arranged, such as stilt walking, plate spinning, punch and Judy, and many others.   The three bubbly girls who took me to see the outdoor activities are pictured above, and they were clearly looking forward to the week ahead;  I think the activity that excited them the most is the visit to Windsor or perhaps the water expedition.   This was followed with some delightful tea and a chat with the county commissioner Sue Beswick amongst others, who was responsible for organising the weeks camp that takes place at Lees Wood every 4 years involving all the guide regions in Hertfordshire.   Clearly a most enjoyable and constructive week that will test and delight many of the girls.
