Platinum Jubilee Art Competition Winners

Category : Events

As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Hertfordshire, the Lieutenancy organised an Art Competition, in conjunction with Herts County Council. The competition was open to Junior school pupils and the theme was “My experience of the Platinum Jubilee.”

The judging panel members were delighted by the entries from a range of schools across the County. We were delighted to see pictures of various events – street parties, garden parties, picnics, beacon lightings as well as a number of Her majesty’s corgis and, of course, Paddington Bear!

The two winners were Lucie Day from Goffs Oak Primary School, Waltham Cross and Liliia Zakharuk from Chambersbury Primary School, Hemel Hempstead.

The judges commented, “Lucie’s entry displayed such intricate work including fireworks, the Union Jack, a crown and detailed outlines of famous landmarks in London together with beautifully scripted writing. Liliia’s entry reflected the variety of different events that took place over the Platinum Jubilee weekend including a picnic, a beacon, the Red Arrows flypast and Paddington Bear enjoying a cup of tea! Everything was painted with such precision, capturing Paddington’s expression and the enjoyment of everyone at the various celebrations. Congratulations to the very worthy winners and well done to all those who participated.”
