Big Iftar in the Park – St. Albans

on Saturday 18th May 2019, Deputy Lieutenant Akhtar Zaman attended the inaugural Big Iftar in the Park in St. Albans. A wonderfully organised community celebration of breaking the fast during the blessed month of Ramadan. The multi-cultural event was attended by about 700 people of all races and religions and supported by many local organisations including St. Albans district council.  There were dignitary speeches, stalls, children’s entertainment, and of course free hot and cold food for everyone.

Many local dignitaries of all beliefs, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, spoke of their support for the event.
