Northwood Headquarters Visit July 2024

On Thursday 4th July Lord-Lieutenant Robert Voss and a number of the Deputy Lieutenants visited Northwood Headquarters. The Lieutenancy team were hosted by the Commanding Officer, Colonel Clint Read, who delivered a brief about the role and responsibilities of the base, followed by a tour of the site.

Northwood Headquarters is Defence’s centre of gravity for operational command and control and is located in the south-west corner of Hertfordshire and is the only military base in the County.  It is home to five operational Headquarters and consists of a diverse mix of UK and international military personnel, civil servants and contractors.

The Commanding Officer, Colonel Read said; “I am delighted to have had the opportunity to host the Lord-Lieutenant and his wider team at Northwood.  Their enthusiasm and support for our personnel and their families who work at Northwood, many of whom also live in the County is most tangible and key to our integration with the community.”
