British Empire Medal Awards – October 2018
The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to present the British Empire Medals to five Hertfordshire residents on Thursday 11th October 2018 at County Hall.
The Medal is awarded to recipients in recognition of the dedication and hard work they have provided to their communities, and it entitles them to use the post-nominal letters BEM.
At its introduction in 1922, the British Empire Medal was granted in recognition of meritorious civil or military service, and it was continued to be awarded to subjects of the United Kingdom until 1992. Those awarded the honour receive it from the Lord Lieutenant of their county.
