VJ Day Commemorative Service in Hemel Hempstead

Representing the Lord Lieutenant, Deputy Lieutenant Air Vice-Marshal Nick Kurth participated in a Commemorative Service for VJ Day held in Hemel Hempstead. Also present was the Dacorum Mayor, Councillor Garrick Stevens. The service was jointly organised by the Dacorum Borough Council and the Royal British Legion. It was held in the beautiful Walled Garden in Gadebridge Park and marked 81 years since victory was declared over Japan. The service remembered all those who served, sacrificed and helped bring the Second World War to an end. Air Vice-Marshal Nick said it is important that we remember the sacrifices involved and laying a wreath focuses one’s attention on all those who were involved in the conflict.
