Stevenage Mayor’s Civic Service 2024, “Faith, Integration, Togetherness”

Dr Sally Burton DL represented the Lord-Lieutenant at the Stevenage Mayor’s Civic Service on Sunday 3rd March 2024, held in the Council Chamber at Stevenage Borough Council, and led by Father Michael Doherty, Parish Priest. The theme was “Faith, Integration, Togetherness” and there were reflections by the Mayor Cllr Myla Arceno, Mary Porter (Humanist Chaplain at the East & North Herts NHS Trust, Lister Hospital Stevenage), Council Leader Richard Henry, an Imam from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK, and Bhante Akurala (Buddhist Monk at the Trust). Pupils from the Marriotts School Choir gave a performance.

A collection was made for the Mayor’s four chosen charities: Douglas Drive Senior Citizens Association, Hertswise, Stevenage World Forum and The Red Shed. The event was supported by many neighbouring Mayors and Chairs, one of the photos is of Sally, the Mayor with both the Labour and the Conservative Prospective Parliament Candidates.
