North Herts Crucial Crew Event 2024
North Herts Crucial Crew event was held Monday, 14th October to Wednesday, 23rd October 2024 at the Hertfordshire FA’s County Ground in Letchworth.
The ‘‘Crucial Crew’ scheme, coordinated by Child Safety Media, aims to teach children about important issues that are often overlooked by the curriculum, such as personal safety, staying safe online, knife crime, fire safety, safeguarding, health & wellbeing, safety on the railways and the dangers/consequences of criminal damage, and first aid (learning how to save a life; DRABC; basic life support – CPR; recovery position).
Approximately 1,000 Year 6 children (10-11 Year Olds) from 28 local primary schools across the borough took part in a series of interactive safety workshops with agencies including Hertfordshire Constabulary (local Safer Neighbourhood Team and Child Criminal Exploitation Team), Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, Hertfordshire Football Association, British Transport Police and East of England Ambulance Service. The workshops give pupils the unique opportunity to learn valuable skills from the professionals, through practical demonstrations and discussions in real-life situations.
The VIP day was held on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024, and was attended by special guests that included Deputy Lieutenant Dr Helen Hanbury, Graham Phillips – Chair of Herts Football Association, Inspector James Lant of Hertfordshire Police, Jo Doggett – Chair of North Herts Community Safety Partnership and Michelle Wright – Community Safety & Safeguarding Manager at Three Rivers District Council.
Schools in attendance on the VIP Day were both from Hitchin, namely Samuel Lucas JMI School and Preston Primary (VC) School.
