On Thursday 18th July Mudlarks were presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service by Janie Wentworth Stanley DL. Mudlarks gives people with learning disabilities or mental health problems the opportunity to develop their life to enable them to lead satisfying, happy lives and, if possible, to gain employment. The beneficiaries gain valuable work experience in Hertfordshire on Mudlarks’ allotments, cafe in Hertford and outreach events. Beneficiaries who have developed the aptitude may move on to a supervisory role themselves or to voluntary (or sometimes paid) work in the café. The quality of staff and volunteers is exceptional and the group’s team spirit is fantastic.
