Category : Events
On 7th May, the Lord-Lieutenant Robert Voss CBE CStJ, accompanied by Marion Brown DL, was delighted to attend the official opening and dedication of the Chapel at Townsend Church of England School in St Albans.
The occasion also marked the 50th anniversary of the school and an opportunity to give thanks for the life and service of the former headmaster Andrew Wellbeloved. The service was led by the Rt Rev’d Dr Alan Smith, the Lord Bishop of St Albans, and attended by other local dignitaries and clergy including The Very Rev’d Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans, the Mayor Cllr Jamie Day and Deputy Mayor Cllr Jenni Murray. Readings were given by the Lord-Lieutenant and the Mayor and prayers were led by senior students of the school. Other students accompanied the hymns during the service. Words of thanks were offered by the Headteacher, Mr Anthony Flack, to all guests who had attended and especially to those who had contributed towards enabling the Chapel to become a reality.
