Installation of defibrillator and bleed kit at Panshanger Park
Deputy Lieutenant Mark Bretton MBE TD DL attended the launch of a new solar powered defibrillator and bleed kit installation at Panshanger Park on 4th April 2025. This was also the last engagement of the Shrieval Year for High Sheriff Annie Brewster.
This solar powered installation is the first of its kind in Hertfordshire, complementing the solar and wind powered cabinet installed at Barclay Park in September. It demonstrates a very climate friendly, practical solution to help mitigate serious risks to life so far from main roads and buildings.
The presentation was led by Justin Honey-Jones, Chair of the Hearts for Herts Charity and attended by trustee Sue Felgate, the Mayors of Hertford and Stevenage, fellow Councillors along with Community First Responders Jamie Lutner and David Rees and a number of other supporters.
This was the 35th defibrillator installation and 180th bleed kit as part of a 120 defibrillator and 350 bleed kit roll out across the county.
The High Sheriff was also pleased to present Justin Honey-Jones with one of her personal awards as recognition for his work leading the charity.
Subsequent to the ceremony the defibrillator was accessed on 12th April, only eight days after it went live on the emergency system. Whether it was used and the outcome are not yet known but all concerned obviously hope that it was successful and another life saved.
