Welwyn Garden City Royal British Legion Veteran’s Commemoration Service

Deputy Lieutenant Jane McCue attended the Royal British Legion Veteran’s Commemoration Service at St Mary Magdalene church on 13th September 2023.  Also present were Pankit Shah, Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council along with representatives of the Royal British Legion from around Hertfordshire, the Royal Naval Association and Air, Army, Sea and Royal Marine cadets.  The event was designed to commemorate the service, dedication and sacrifice of our military Veterans and their families, not forgetting the many civilians caught up in wars and conflict.  Readings of poems written during the First and Second World Wars as well as during later conflicts such as those in Korea, Northern Ireland, the Falklands and Afghanistan were read throughout the service and were particularly poignant.
