Redbourn Care Group – Serving the Local Community
14 April 2020
With the help of the Redbourn Care Bus, the donations from Saturday’s collection at the Parish Centre were delivered to the food bank on Tuesday. “Thank you SO much for your very generous donations! We were SO blown away. Thank you.”
In just over three weeks, approximately 140 shopping requests, 38 prescription collections, plus another 115 enquires have come through the RCG helpline: 01582 794550.
In addition, well over 320 “friendly calls” have been made by volunteers to residents, that number, however, does not include the many neighbourly networks that exist across the village whereby people are contacting each other on a regular basis.
Over the last two days, 130 prescriptions from the Crown Pharmacy have been delivered to residents by volunteers. The aim is to deliver as many prescriptions as possible reducing the backlog which should help the pharmacy who are so overstretched at this extremely difficult time.
We know in addition to these statistics that many more acts of neighbourliness and kindness go on across Redbourn, demonstrating a community working together. Thank you to all our volunteers.
A huge thanks must also go to all those people who are staying at home and picking up the phone to ask for help. We know it is not an easy thing to do, especially when you have been living independently all your life, and we do not underestimate your consideration for others in acting in this unprecedented way.
The RCG website has been updated and includes our helpful Newsletters and also links to a Directory of local/regional/national organisations offering support and information during the Coronavirus pandemic: https://redbourncaregroup.co.uk/covid-19-coronavirus-resources/
