Presentation of a QAVS to Waterways Experiences

Category : Events

The Lord-Lieutenant and his wife-accompanied by Deputy Lieutenants David Cansdale and John Palmer presented the Queens Award for Voluntary Service to Waterways Experiences after a short trip down the canal on the newest boat-Sheldrake III with everyone taking a turn at the tiller.

A sumptuous meal was put on to celebrate this outstanding achievement which was attended by the local Mayor as well as a good number of the 150+ volunteers who take disabled youngsters (and those not so young) on canal trips ranging from a few hours  to a week. The commitment of the volunteers and the pleasure they took form their “work” was evident and the charity-run totally by volunteers-is looking to purchase their fourth boat.
