HRH The Princess Royal visits Welwyn Garden City
On 7 September, HRH The Princess Royal visited Digswell Place Group Riding for Disabled Association to celebrate their 50thanniversary. The riding school is run by volunteers and backed by fundraising in order to give those with disabilities in Welwyn and Hatfield the opportunity to ride a horse. As President of the Riding for the Disabled Association, HRH spent time with the group’s co-founders and volunteers at their facility in Welwyn Garden City.
HRH The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Lord-Lieutenant Ant Chapman DL, received a tour of the stables, provided long service awards to 2 ponies and unveiled a 50th anniversary commemorative plaque. The Vice Lord-Lieutenant said “On behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant I was delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to our county to mark the fantastic 50th anniversary of Digswell Place. As Patron of the RDA, Princess Anne’s visit to the stables really elevated the celebrations. The riders, volunteers and co-founders thoroughly enjoyed providing a tour of the site and sharing the history of the stables.”
