Her Majesty The Queen’s Funeral at Westminster Abbey
The Lord-Lieutenant attended the funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19th September at Westminster Abbey and represented the people of Hertfordshire.
He said “It was an incredible honour for Celia and I to be invited and seated in the front row at such a poignant and emotional day in this country’s history. In representing the people of Hertfordshire I felt proud and yet humble to be present as the greatest sovereign this country has ever known was mourned by the millions and billions across the world. Bowing my head as the coffin passed no more the 18 inches in front of me-I don’t think I have ever felt emotion and such sadness before. We knew this day would come but no one has been prepared for the outpouring of grief that we have seen across the county, the country and the world.
