HACRO Annual Achievements Awards
Deputy Lieutenant Liz Green represented the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire at the HACRO (Hertfordshire Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders) Annual Achievement Awards held at the University of Hertfordshire.
Twenty awardees have turned their lives around with support from Herts probation, Herts Constabulary and HACRO – staff. Chatting to those receiving awards before the ceremony, a common message was “a positive mindset and a willingness to make changes”. It hasn’t been easy for many of the winners, yet they have done it.
Excellent, moving and inspiring talks about their personal experience of the criminal justice system from Caragh Arthur BSC MSc MCIPD who is a senior policy lead at HMPPS, and Dan Whyte who runs DRWM_CIC, a social enterprise to help people in prison and those with convictions.
Annie Brewster(High Sheriff of Hertfordshire) was a great compere for the evening. It was good to see so many Mayors & Chairs, members of the County Council and other supporters to congratulate the Award winners.
Congratulations to HACRO on the 50th anniversary and the positive impact you continue to make across the county. New innovations continue to be introduced and opportunities for those taking part include tennis, cookery, art, health & wellbeing, literacy & numeracy, fishing, boxing, carpentry and music.
