Three Rivers Council Plants Trees for the Queen’s Green Canopy
The first of more than 700 trees has been planted in Three Rivers as part of an initiative to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Three English oaks were planted at The Green in Croxley Green by councilors from Three Rivers District Council and the Lord-Lieutenant for Hertfordshire Robert Voss.
A further 21 trees are to be planted across the district over the next few weeks as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy project, including at Leavesden Country Park, Chorleywood House, Scotsbridge in Rickmansworth; King George V Recreation Ground in Mill End; Romilly Drive Playing Fields in Carpenders Park, and Eastbury Recreation Ground.
In November, an additional 700 native small trees will be planted in The Horses’ Field at Leavesden Country Park, and at Denham Way Recreation Ground in Maple Cross.
The planting project has been supported by tree nursery, Herts Native Trees, while funding has been secured from the Treescape Fund to plant 25 additional street trees in locations in South Oxhey.
