Margaret Wix School Tree Planting for the Queen’s Green Canopy
On 12th October 2021, the Lord-Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants Dione Verulam and Ian Pigott attended the tree planting for the Queen’s Green Canopy at Margaret Wix School in St. Albans. Also in attendance were St Albans MP Daisy Cooper, Vice-Chairman of the County Council Annie Brewster and Head of Sustainability at the Council, Julie Greaves.
This was the first of many trees to be planted across Hertfordshire, in total approximately 26,000 trees.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion wonderfully hosted by the staff and children as part of the City School Trees Project. The school is one of only 69 selected around the UK.
The Lord-Lieutenant said, “Lovely to meet all the pupils and staff. I hope the tree produces lots of lovely pears….”.
