Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets
Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets 2025
The LL was pleased to welcome his 6 new Lord-Lieutenant Cadets.
Combined Cadet Force: Flight Sergeant Gaby INGHAM
My name is Gaby Ingham, and I am a part of the Combined Cadet Force of Berkhamsted School. I study chemistry, history and economics at A-level. I joined the CCF in 2021, choosing the RAF section and have risen to the role of Flight Sergeant ever since. Sadly, this is my last year serving Berkhamsted CCF, but I intend to make the most of it. I am honoured to be the first female put forward by Berkhamsted Combined Cadet Force for the role of Lord Lieutenant Cadet of Hertfordshire.
During my time in the CCF, I have been taught the skills required to become a great leader, initiated by attending an MOI course. These skills have developed on various camps, such as my leadership of an emergency evacuation roleplay. Also, I am proud to say that I was involved with the RAF Girls section when we won our annual Yates Drill competition. This sparked my love of helping young cadets grow into confident leaders through kind leadership. The first aid training taught through the CCF has given me vital skills, and paired with my mental health training course, I can help anyone that comes my way.
My role as a prefect throughout my time in school is credited to the skills the CCF has taught me. My love for taking part in camps encouraged me to take part in DofE, for which I have achieved both Bronze and Silver awards and am well underway for my Gold award.
Although all of these great skills are credited to my role in the CCF, the true reason I have been a part of the CCF for 5 years is because I enjoy it. The lifelong friendships and incredible opportunities it has given me is something I will cherish forever. Looking back, there is nothing I would change about my journey, and I am forever grateful that Berkhamsted CCF has been such a massive part of my journey so far. I am honoured to finish this incredible journey as Lord Lieutenant Cadet of Berkhamsted Combined Cadet Force for Hertfordshire.
St John Cadet: Cdt Cpl Maddison MORAN
Army Cadet: Sergeant Clara MORAN
My name is Clara Moran and I have the great opportunity of being a cadet at the Royston detachment of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force, obtaining the rank of colour sergeant in 2 Company. I am currently studying the A-levels Physics, History, Psychology, and Core Maths, and I am currently completing my EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).
I have now reached my 4th year as an Army cadet and I believe that joining was one of the best decisions I made. Since joining, I have grown so much as a person, especially in my confidence. Continuing during these 4 years, I have gained so many wonderful memories and so many brilliant qualifications, such as my first aid at work. Over this time I have been able to attend many magnificent camps, which has allowed me to grow in my independence and leadership. I have also been given the opportunity to attend events such as first aid competitions, where we have reached a national level, which we will be attending in October 2025.
Thus far, being an Army cadet has shaped me into the person I am today and has opened a multitude of doors for me by pushing me out of my comfort zone, building my confidence and evolving my leadership skills. This has allowed me to achieve many things I would not have otherwise thought of, such as my Duke of Edinburgh awards and a BTEC in musical performance. I am truly grateful that these pathways have been paved for me.
I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to be a Lord Lieutenant cadet of Hertfordshire. I am excited to carry out my duties with my fellow cadets and represent Hertfordshire in this way. I am tremendously grateful for this and the numerous opportunities the Army Cadet Force has given me.
Sea Cadet: Leading Cadet Dona PARRY
With a grandfather who was a captain in the Merchant Navy and a father who is a keen SCUBA diver, Dona seemed destined for a life involving the water. In 2019, as an 11-year-old, she joined the Rickmansworth & Watford Sea Cadets and is exceedingly proud of her membership. Over the years, Dona passed through the ranks and in 2024, achieved the rank of Leading Cadet.
On two occasions Dona was lucky enough to go on offshore voyages. Once from Weymouth to Gosport on TS Royalist in October 2022, and once on TS John Jerwood, travelling from Weymouth to Penzance in June 2025. These voyages were not only exciting and educational but also allowed her the opportunity of meeting cadets from other parts of the country and making new friends.
In 2021 Dona’s parents proudly witnessed Dona receiving an award at the Jack Petchey Foundation awards in London. She completed her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in 2023 and is currently working her way towards the Silver award. In 2024 she was awarded a District Officer’s Commendation for Outstanding Achievement. When she was a junior cadet, her goal was to become a kayak instructor. She achieved this in 2025 and now hopes to also become both a sailing and a rowing instructor. Dona loves nothing more than sewing a new badge onto her uniform. However, her first-ever badge never made it onto her sleeve. It was hoovered up and lost by her mother!
She has attended many drill competitions and carpet guards, loves expeditions and once achieved a Chosin Best Team Leader award. She puts down her success to the support of the incredible staff in her unit, especially her commanding officer, Sub Lieutenant M. Rhodes.
Dona was very pleased to have been nominated and even more so to have been chosen as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Hertfordshire. She is relishing the thought of the year ahead and hopes that she will make both her Unit and the Sea Cadet Corps proud.
This year Dona successfully completed her GCSEs and has just started the first year of her A-levels, having chosen Biology, Economics and Geography. In the future, she hopes to pursue either geopolitics, zoology or a career as an officer in the Navy.
She is also the owner of an insane Lurcher named Amber.
Combined Cadet Force: RAF Cadet Sergeant Ella RAJDA
My name is Ella Rajda, and I am a Cadet Sergeant in the RAF Section of the Haileybury Combined Cadet Force. I am currently studying A Levels in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science and hope to pursue Aerospace Engineering at university.
Since joining the RAF section, I have completed Blue Leadership and Methods of Instruction training, passed all Master Cadet exams, and was awarded the Chris Briggs Prize for Most Outstanding RAF Cadet. I have also helped lead and teach the RAF Space syllabus, mentoring younger cadets through the Blue and Bronze levels.
Outside the CCF, I founded Haileybury’s Space Economy Society, now the school’s largest academic society. Additionally, I am on the leadership team of Haileybury’s CubeSat programme and a student researcher on Brown University’s Virtual Astronaut project. As Head Girl, I have had the privilege of representing the school and supporting its wider community – experiences that have deepened my passion for aerospace and strengthened my sense of purpose.
My time in the Haileybury CCF has shaped my confidence, discipline, and ambition and inspired me to one day serve within the Royal Air Force’s Space Command. I am honoured to represent Hertfordshire as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet and hope to use this opportunity to uphold the values of the RAF while inspiring others to lead and serve.
RAF Air Cadet: Cadet Lucy WALLER
My name is Lucy and I have the privilege of serving as a member of 1372 (Elstree and Borehamwood) Squadron for the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. I study History, Psychology and Sociology at A level and am aspiring to do a Joint Honours in History and Sociology at university.
I am currently entering my fifth year as an RAF Air Cadet and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have been given. Throughout the years I have been able to attend camps, both annual and subject specific, as well as earn a BTEC, become a First Aid Instructor and complete my Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, and my Gold expedition, which is one of my most favourite memories. I have also had the chance to both attend and assist on courses across a variety of areas including drill, music and first aid. These experiences inspired me to nurture these passions further and I am now aiming to become a Duke of Edinburgh Young Leader as well as pursuing band to Regional, and hopefully National, level.
My time in the Corps has given me both the resources and support needed to push myself out of my comfort zone. I have been able to develop confidence in areas such as leadership and teaching, having earned my Method of Instruction qualification. This enabled me to teach cadets on my squadron and around Hertfordshire which resulted in not only being able to develop as a leader but also meant I could develop the ability to help both teach and inspire others, assisting them in finding their passions within RAFAC.
Becoming a part of Air Cadets was one of the most important and best decisions I have ever made and I am so thankful to have been a part of the organisation. My squadron and wing have shaped who I am today and for that, I am honoured to be serving as our next Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Hertfordshire and the RAF Air Cadets.
As my term as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for this unforgettable experience. It has been an incredible year filled with opportunities that have enriched both my personal and professional growth.
I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to you for all your help and guidance throughout the year. Your support has made each engagement run smoothly, and I’m truly appreciative of all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make it happen.
Please also convey my heartfelt thanks to the Vice Lord Lieutenant for his guidance during various engagements. His mentorship, alongside the wisdom shared by the Deputy Lord Lieutenants I’ve had the privilege of meeting, has been invaluable.
I am immensely grateful to the Lord Lieutenant for providing me with this unique opportunity. Being part of such meaningful engagements—whether it was the King’s Award for Enterprise, the British Empire Medal presentations, or the many other events—has been both humbling and inspiring. These moments will stay with me for years to come.
Beyond these incredible experiences, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my confidence, interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities. This role has inspired me to pursue new challenges, like chairing the District Youth Forum and continuing my journey as I transition to an adult member of St John Ambulance.
I have truly loved every moment and will always be grateful for this opportunity. I wish next year’s cohort all the best as they step into this wonderful role, and I hope they gain as much from it as I have.
Warm regards,
Mia
I wanted to extend my thanks to you and all the Lord Lieutenant’s team for looking after xxxxxx during her tenure and for making her feel safe and supported at all times.
Special thanks go to Anthony who kept her calm during the King’s visit to Stevenage last year, that was very much appreciated from a Mum who tried to calm her nerves on the car journey beforehand!
She has thoroughly enjoyed her year and was very sad to have to pass the baton on. It was an amazing experience for her, and she will hold those memories dear for the rest of her life.
Thank you again.
Kind regards
