Heathlands School Arts Awards Celebration

On 10th October 2019, Akhtar Zaman DL attended Heathlands School Arts Award event to mark Artsmark’s national celebration for arts and cultural education. Artsmark is the Arts Council England’s award for schools and educational settings that champion the arts and strive for excellence.

Heathlands provides outstanding education for deaf children from the age of 3 years to 16 years, encouraging each child to achieve academically, develop independence and to contribute positively in their communities.

The film KS3 students made was screened followed by a live skills-share, where the Arts Award students taught the younger students the skills they had developed.

Akhtar Zaman DL spoke of the importance of the Arts in education and also shared a little of his technology background. Also in attendance was masterclass professional, Ashley Kendall,  who spoke of the importance of developing creativity.
