Sally Burton DL attends pear tree Planting in St Nicholas orchard, Stevenage
On Friday 11th March Sally Burton DL represented the Lieutenancy at the planting of a conference pear tree in St Nicholas Orchard, Stevenage to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as part of the Green Canopy Project. Mayor of Stevenage Sandra Barr and the Leader of the Council, Sharon Taylor, with other Councillors, Community workers and members of the public took part. It is hoped that the trees in the orchard will produce fruit to be eaten by the children of St Nicholas who visit to play in the play area (best known as the ABC playground) and learn about the “bug hotels” shown in one of the photos.
