In February 2025, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts are travelling to the Caribbean Islands of St. Kitts and Nevis, one of the 56 Commonwealth Nations, to undertake the inauguration exchange in a Cultural Collaboration with students and teachers on the Islands.
Tring Park students had the opportunity to meet and discuss their excitement about the trip with His Excellency Dr. Kevin Isaac, High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis to London, during a special visit on 5th December 2024. The Lord Lieutenant, who is Vice President of the School and Lionel Wallace DL – Chair of the Commonwealth Panel, were in attendance during a tour of the school, followed by a short reception.
The project emanates from aspirations of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UK British Chambers of Commerce and that of St. Kitts and Nevis, devised by Lionel during his term as High Sheriff of Hertfordshire 2021/2022, and is encouraged by the Lieutenancy during this 75th Anniversary of the Commonwealth. The Tring Park team will deliver some of their powerful performances in drama and other creative arts. The project hopes to develop a level of reciprocal exchange of students from these Caribbean Islands going forward and as well as some lasting relationships. Ed Applewhite – Director of Drama at Tring Park said ‘I am hoping that in addition to delivering our planned programme, the students will be ‘challenged’ by their St. Kitts and Nevis peers to some sporting activities, as part of this excellent cultural exchange’
