Wormley CofE Primary School planting trees for the Queens Green Canopy
Karen Trew DL planted a tree at Wormley CofE Primary School as part of their Platinum Jubilee sports day.
The school has bought many trees under the Queens Green Canopy scheme and planted them around the grounds and this statement tree was planted with the children and their parents in attendance on this day of celebration.
Karen was helped in this role by some of the staff who had come dressed as members of the Royal Family. Many thanks to the “Duke of Cambridge” who helped with planting!
Headteacher Tracy Gaiteri led the school in a prayer of thanks to Her Majesty the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee and a blessing for the new tree.
She reminded the children that this special tree would grow and be here for future generations and that, in many years’ time, when they come back to the school with their own children, they would be able to tell them the story of this tree.
The weather was glorious on 27th May 2022 and the children really enjoyed their sports day.
