Category : Events

On 15th August, Deputy Lieutenant Commodore Tim Hennessey represented the Lord Lieutenant at the Gadebridge Park service for VJ Day 80. The service was held in the beautiful Walled Garden, Gadebridge Park, to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Over Japan (VJ) Day.

The Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Commodore Tim Hennessey, the Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Catherine McArevey, and President of the Royal British Legion, Sir Mike Penning each laid a wreath in remembrance. The service was hosted in partnership with the Hemel branch of the Royal British Legion and led by the Reverend Mike Macey.
VJ Day marks 15 August 1945, when Japan’s surrender brought the Second World War to an end. The service is to remember the service and sacrifice of all who served in the Far East, including those from across the Commonwealth.
