Teens Unite Fighting Cancer
On 9th August 2025, Karen Trew DL joined the TYA Fest held at Teens Unite Fighting Cancer’s new premises in Broxbourne. This was the first time that young people and families were welcomed to the charity’s new site – a site which is being transformed into the UK’s first dedicated retreat for teenagers and young adults affected by cancer.
This wonderful day was filled with opportunities to connect and enjoy time together—from decorating cupcakes and playing outdoor games, to getting creative with arts and crafts and expressing themselves in a social media masterclass. Live music ran throughout the day, creating a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere where everyone could truly unwind. See more on How we support | Teens Unite
For many, it was a chance to step away from the pressures and uncertainty that surround cancer, spend quality time with loved ones, and meet others who genuinely understand what they are going through.
Thanks to Teens Unite and sponsors for organising this event that brought such happiness to many young people and their families.
Information on Teens Unite:
Teens Unite is dedicated to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults living with, and beyond, cancer. We are the only charity in the UK providing ongoing support for 13–24-year-olds to overcome the mental, physical, and emotional challenges cancer brings – not just during treatment and recovery, but also in the long-term aftercare stage, when most support stops, yet the need remains.
Through activities, programmes, and residential stays, we bring young people from across the UK together, united by a shared experience of cancer. Surrounded by others who truly understand, they realise they are not alone. They can build friendships, learn new skills, discover new experiences, and pursue their ambitions – without cancer holding them back.
We have recently purchased a site in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, which is being transformed into the UK’s first dedicated retreat for teenagers and young adults affected by cancer. It will be known as ‘The Home of Teens Unite’ and will provide a welcoming base to host more activities and residential stays, helping us work towards our vision of supporting 30,000 young people over the next 10 years.
