Sandringham Eco Group plant commemorative tree to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Members of the senior student team and Eco Group commemorated the Queens’ Platinum Jubilee by planting a special tree on the school grounds this week. The tree is an Acer Rubrum and forms a central feature on entry to the school. To mark the occasion, the school invited Her Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Marion Brown to unveil the plaque and talk to the students about the sustainable work going on across the county.
Alan Gray, headteacher said ‘The school has now planted close to 1000 trees on the site over the past three years, which will transform the future landscape at Sandringham and provide an enhanced habitat for wildlife around the school. This is one part of the Sustainable Sandringham strategy to be as eco-friendly as possible by 2030, in line with the Hertfordshire strategy for sustainability.’
