Air Cadets Engage in Annual Inter-Squadron Competition
Category : Events

The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire was represented by Air Vice-Marshal Nick Kurth CBE DL at the annual Hertfordshire Air Cadets competition – Exercise SPARTAN SHIELD.  The Inter-Squadron competition was undertaken at the outdoor training area at DISC Chicksands.  It consisted of squadron teams undertaking 6 tasks; each task was assessed and graded.  The tasks varied from first aid scenarios, with multiple casualties, to communication and leadership exercises.  A total of 21 teams were involved, from all 16 squadrons in the county.  Congratulations are passed to A Team from 2457 (Tring) Squadron – who won the event against stiff competition.  Once again, the cadets assessed the competition as one of the best events of the Air Cadet year.  Moreover, noting the very warm temperature, the appearance of the BFBS ice cream van was very much appreciated by all those present!  Thanks are passed to the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire for authorising Air Vice-Marshal Nick’s presence, noting that Chicksands is in Bedfordshire.
