As Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, I write to offer my sincere condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and her family upon the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His was a remarkable and exemplary contribution to British public life which includes the impact on many Hertfordshire residents whose lives have been enriched through their participation in the DofE scheme. We mourn his loss but also celebrate an extraordinary life.

His sense of duty to Her Majesty and the people of Great Britain and The Commonwealth for over 70 years was unfailing.
